Mr. Greek conducts contest for potential franchisees

Toronto-based restaurant chain Mr. Greek has begun a contest intended to attracting new franchisees. The winner of the contest, called the "Franchise Economic Stimulus Package," will receive a Mr. Greek franchise fee. Entrants must submit an essay explaining why they want to own a Mr. Greek restaurant. Five finalists will be selected by the company to compete for the prize on Sept. 16 during the chain's "Pita Day" promotion. Each competitor will be assigned a Mr. Greek location in which to raise money for the Helios Foundation. The one who raises the most money will win the right to open a Mr. Greek restaurant and the franchise fee. "This is the perfect opportunity for anyone who has ever seriously considered starting their own business," says George Raios, president and CEO of the company. "We are looking for business-savvy individuals who appreciate friendly competition and are ready to join a successful franchise group. This competition will be exciting, intense and really determine who is the hungriest for a Mr. Greek franchise. This stimulus package is an innovative way to help stimulate the franchise industry during tough economic times."
