Reader's Digest readies Best Health magazine

Toronto-based Reader's Digest Canada will launch a new health and lifestyle magazine on March 24 called Best Health. The publication, which will be aimed at Canadian women between the ages of 35 and 55, will be issued six times per year. The first issue will have a circulation of approximately 100,000 and will be distributed through subscriptions and newsstands. The magazine's editorial content will be divided into four themes: "Look Great," "Get Healthy," "Eat Well and "Embrace Life." "With healthy living becoming more relevant than ever, and more Canadians taking control of all aspects of their health, Best Health speaks to today's contemporary woman and is designed to empower her to live a beautiful, healthy life," said Larry Thomas, publisher of Reader's Digest Canada. "It's a competitive environment, but our research indicates both a strong demand for healthy living publications and that the current market need is not being met. This, paired with the health DNA we currently have within Reader's Digest, makes it a natural extension for a new magazine."
