Young & Rubicam, Ogilvy & Mather merge in Calgary

Young & Rubicam Canada and Ogilvy & Mather Canada have reached an agreement to merge their operations in Calgary. Under the terms of the deal, Ogilvy & Mather will operate under the Young & Rubicam Calgary brand identity. "We not only expand Y&R's presence in the Calgary market, but position ourselves to offer better, more comprehensive services to all our clients," said Chris Jordan, president of Young & Rubicam Canada. "As sister companies in the WPP family, we already have a good knowledge of each other's skills, and are already seeing the results of combining those strengths in this market." Jim Eaton, general manager of Young & Rubicam West, will continue to head the Calgary office. According to the company, he will work closely with Mark Piggott, former president of Ogilvy & Mather. In related news, Young & Rubicam Calgary has been appointed agency of record for the Calgary Stampede after making a joint pitch for the account with Ogilvy & Mather.
