Maclean's debuts electronic edition

Maclean's magazine has launched a digital edition to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the publication. The product is being produced in association with digital publishing and marketing company Zinio Systems. The electronic magazine is designed to be a replica of the print version, including all articles, photographs and ads. The first edition debuted on Oct. 3 along with the centennial issue of Maclean's. Beginning Oct. 11, subscribers to the digital edition will receive each issue as a download to be viewed on their personal computers. "This is a natural extension of the Maclean's brand," said Deborah Trepanier, associate publisher and general manager of the magazine. "By launching Maclean's digital, we are offering readers a digitized product identical in every way to Maclean's print edition, but one which international readers, in particular, will receive much more quickly than the print edition. The enhanced distribution will also increase our advertisers' reach to consumers, and could provide additional advertising sales opportunities."
