Pizza Pizza begins pizza centenary promotion

Toronto-based fast food chain Pizza Pizza will conduct an online promotion called "Slice of the Century" in October to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the arrival of pizza in North America. As part of the effort, the company has declared October to be National Pizza Month. The firm will post a daily pizza trivia question on its website at <http://www.pizzapizza.ca>. Visitors to the site who correctly answer the question will be entered into a daily draw for a $10 Pizza Pizza club card. They will also qualify for a final draw at the end of the month for one of ten $100 loyalty cards. Visitors to the site will also be able to print out a coupon for a discounted slice of pizza. In addition, on Oct. 13 Pizza Pizza's 340 restaurant locations in Canada will offer pizza slices for 100 cents. "At Pizza Pizza, we wanted to do something special to recognize pizza's centennial, and we wanted to do it in such a way that it would also reward customers whose love for and enjoyment of pizza has been instrumental in pizza's North American evolution," said Pat Finelli, the company's vice-president of marketing. Public relations for the company are handled by Torchia Communications.
