Alliance Atlantis airs first high-definition programming

Toronto-based Alliance Atlantis broadcast its first programming in high-definition on New Year's Eve. The special program, "Sex, Toys & Chocolate: Have a Sexy New Year," aired on the Life Network and Discovery Health Channel. It was available in high-definition to eligible subscribers of Bell ExpressVu, Rogers and StarChoice. "While Canadian HD content is still largely uncharted terrain, this broadcast is an excellent opportunity for Alliance Atlantis to take its first step into this world-sweeping new television technology," said Norm Bolen, the company's executive vice-president of programming. "Based on the success of this special, we are looking forward to additional HD programming on our networks in the future."
