CHUM Television of Toronto has signed an exclusive content sponsorship with OneStop Toronto. OneStop is in the process of installing platform display units in Toronto subway stations. CHUM station CityTV will provide news, sports and weather updates for these units, which will also carry transit information and other material for riders. The first of the 40-inch digital displays will go into service in several high-traffic subway stations in January. In-train screens will be installed beginning in the spring of 2005. OneStop is a joint initiative of interactive agency Fourth Wall Media, the Toronto Transit Commission and Viacom Outdoor. "This is a perfect opportunity for us to leverage our resources with OneStop's technology to deliver the information that matters to Torontonians," said Susan Arthur, marketing director of CHUM Television. According to OneStop, the displays will reach approximately 80,000 commuters per day. Participating advertisers will include Sears Canada, Pfizer, Ford Canada, Nokia, Pizza Hut, KFC and Taco Bell.
