TOURISM TORONTO BEGINS TOUR BUS CAMPAIGN

Tourism Toronto has begun a marketing campaign called "Get to Toronto" intended attract travellers to the city. During the initiative, a tour bus will travel to variou Canadian and U.S. cities. The bus exterior displays an image of the Toronto skyline, a logo and a Web address. Twenty-five promotional workers will travel on the bus, which will stop at shopping malls, school campuses and other high traffic areas in an effort to generate interest in Toronto. Each person will wear a shirt incorporating a video screen that will play promotional vignettes. The bus also contains a kitchen which will serve food samples from participating Toronto restaurants. The tour is being promoted with a two-week radio campaign in each city prior to the arrival of the bus. The radio effort will also include a call-in contest that will give away a trip for two to Toronto. Additional contests tied to the tour will also take place. A campaign Web site located at <http://www.get2toronto.com> contains special hotel and restaurant offers, a trivia game and a contest for tickets to a party on Dec. 1. The campaign was created by Marketing Drive Worldwide of Toronto. Public relations are being handled by Edelman of Toronto.
