WWE LOOKS FOR ADVERTISERS, VIEWERS DURING NHL LOCKOUT

World Wrestling Entertainment Canada has begun an effort to attract advertisers and viewers during the NHL lockout. "We are actively reaching out to advertisers and sponsors looking to reach the male demographic, to alert them to the unique programming and integrated promotional opportunities WWE offers," said Carl DeMarco, president of WWE Canada. The company's business units include television programming, live events, magazines, pay-per-view events, licensing and merchandising endeavours. Advertisers are being targeted with print ads in trade publications. WWE is also using consumer print advertising to attract new viewers of its television programs. The ads, placed in major daily newspapers, also invite existing fans to increase the amount of WWE programming they view. Later this month WWE will break national TV and radio advertising promoting the "Monday Night Raw" and "SmackDown" programs.
