By Adnews Staff
The National Hockey League has signed a multi-year sponsorship agreement with Home Depot Canada. As part of the deal, Home Depot becomes a corporate partner of the League in Canada in the home improvement category. The retailer will continue as a major advertiser on the NHL on TSN and on CBC's Hockey Night in Canada and will execute a national contest that invites fans to build their own backyard hockey rink. The NHL also announced it has renewed partnership agreements with Mennen, which serves as the official deodorant of the League in Canada; McDonald's, which serves as the official quick service restaurant and Gillette-Duracell, which expands from the official battery to the shaving and grooming categories as well. To support its sponsorships, Duracell is executing a promotion called "Meet the Man Behind the Mask" which will ask goalie-theme trivia questions, McDonald's is continuing with its trading card program and Mennen will continue to market an NHL-branded deodorant.
