MARK IS TAKEN OUT OF WEARHOUSE
By Adnews Staff
Part of the reason Mark's Work Wearhouse founder Mark Blumes was ousted from the company this month was because he wanted to change its marketing programs, president and CEO Garth Mitchell told Adnews this week. Mitchell, who has replaced Blumes as president and CEO, said, "We are quite happy with the essence of our marketing programs and we didn't want to change them. A lot of the changes Blumes wanted to make had to do with how we spend the money. It didn't have a lot to do with a change in media use." Blumes, who now owns less than 5% of the company, was terminated because of a difference of opinion on how to take the retailer of work and casual clothes and footwear into the future. Advertising is done by Watermark Advertising of Calgary. With an annual advertising budget of $15 million, it uses TV, radio, flyers, print and outdoor.
