REITMANS OPENS NEW RETAIL CHAIN

Montreal-based Reitmans (Canada) Ltd. will launch a new retail chain called SM2 this weekend. Referred to by the company as a "second generation" Smart Set, the chain will target women aged 15 to 30. SM2's merchandise will include basic clothing that will reflect the colours and trends of the seasons. The stores will target the same demographic as Smart Set stores, but will be located in outlet malls rather than shopping centres. The first SM2 store will be in Kirkland, PQ. Three additional locations in Cambridge, ON, Woodbridge, ON and Langley, BC will open by early August. Advertising for the chain will be handled by Boha Design of Montreal, which also handles advertising for Reitmans Smart Set and RW&Co chains. Reitmans also operates the Penningtons, Dalmys and Reitmans retail chains.
