SPEEDY GETS ZIPPY

American Speedy Printing Centers Inc. of Troy, Michigan more than doubled its size in Canada last week with the takeover of Zippy Print Enterprises, based in Oakville, Ont. Speedy has 30 outlets in Canada and Zippy 38. Both are franchise operations offering offset printing, high-speed copying, desktop publishing, color copying and other reproduction services. Advertising for American Speedy in Canada is done by Daniel Brian Associates of Michigan. Fusion Communications of Vancouver creates ads for Zippy. The new owner hasn't decided yet if the Zippy name will be changed over to Speedy, nor has a decision been made on how Canadian advertising will be handled, American Speedy spokeswoman Linda Wasche told Adnews last week. Privately-owned American Speedy was founded in 1976. It has 450 stores in North America, Europe and Japan.
