HOME DEPOT, UPS HAUL GAZEBO TO SYDNEY

Olympic sponsors Home Depot Canada and United Parcel Service Canada will likely set a new world record for the long distance gazebo relay when they build and deliver such a structure to Canada Olympic Place in Sydney, Australia this month. Located at Macquarie University in Sydney, Canada Olympic Place will be the centre of Canadian entertainment and hospitality activities during the upcoming Games. The 14-foot-tall gazebo is intended to serve as an outdoor space where athletes can meet with their families and supporters. After the games the structure will be donated to the school. The gazebo will be built in pieces in Canada by Home Depot "carpentry professionals", shipped Down Under by UPS and re-assembled there. "We are very pleased with this initiative," said Carol Anne Letheren, CEO of the Canadian Olympic Association. "We are working to create the best environment possible for the athletes to perform at the Games, and the gazebo adds a fun and practical feature for the athletes to meet with their families and friends. We are also grateful for the collaboration of Macquarie University, and are happy to see this Canadian Olympic Team structure left as a legacy."
