BLOCKBUSTER HAS NEW DESTINATION FOR MOVIE PLANS

Toronto-based Blockbuster Canada is giving Canadians a new destination to go to for DVD rentals. The national video chain has launched its new DVD DESTINATION section in over 100 of its stores across Canada. In conjunction with the launch of the new section in select Blockbuster stores, the company is also running a consumer offer in partnership with DVD manufacturers. When consumers purchase a new Toshiba, JVC or SONY DVD player from Canadian retailers, they will receive 5 free DVDs (Stargate; Six Days, Seven Nights; Lost In Space; Stepmom and Lethal Weapon 4) through a mail-in offer from Blockbuster. In addition to the five free DVD's, Blockbuster is also giving away 13 free DVD rentals from participating locations. A complete list of stores that feature the rental and sales centre is available online at <http://www.blockbuster.ca>. The remaining Blockbuster locations will launch the new section in the first quarter of 2000. Promotion of the new sections is being done through a full-page ad in Blockbuster's in-store magazine, which will also be distributed as an insert in Tribute magazine. Additionally, promotion is running on Blockbuster's Web site and through in-store point-of-sale materials. Advertising for the consumer offer is being done through Toshiba, JVC and Sony using a print campaign. Point In Store Marketing of Toronto created the in-store promotional materials for Blockbuster.
